The unique patented wood of the bamboo type Moso improves dimensional stability, hardness, fire safety and strength.
KERO bamboo is suitable for luxurious outdoor environments such as terraces, balconies, pool decks …
KERO bamboo was developed as an ecological and sustainable alternative for increasingly rare species of tropical wood. The German Institute of Technology has contributed to product development with test comparisons of tropical wood and bamboo.
As one of the fastest growing plants in the world, bamboo represents a rapidly renewable natural resource. Unlike trees, which renew every 40 to 60 years, they can be felled every 4 to 5 years.
Processing KERO bamboo reduces CO2 and does not cause greenhouse gas emissions, which is why KERO is CO2-neutral.
It is FSC certified for controlled forest management.
Its special feature are the fiber structures which have been crushed during processing and pressed under 2,300 kg of pressure in order to achieve the highest Brinell hardness (9.5 kg per mm2). Thereafter, hardness and stability are improved by 50% by thermal processing at 200°C, destroying the sugars hemicellulose, which are foods for wood rot affecting the durability of wood. Without additional chemical treatment, its life is up to 30 years.
KERO bamboo is easy to install thanks to the tongue-and-groove system, allowing quick installation and connections without cutting and visible gap between the planks, which is much more economical and visually perfect.
The special symmetrical shape offers a choice between wavy or smooth surface and allows quick installation with invisible KERO clamps without screwing, which leads to tension in other outer coverings and finally to twisting and cracking.
Wood contracts and expands, it twists and bends to its natural structure. Dissecting and breaking up its natural structure with subsequent compression prevents these effects and gives the wood a perfectly stabilized shape.
BREAKDOWN OF THE STRUCTURE GIVES KERO BAMBOO DIMENSIONAL STABILITY AND PREVENTS CRACKING, EXPANSION, TWISTING AND CLEAVAGE, IN CONTRAST WITH OTHER TYPES OF TROPICAL WOOD WITH ORIGINAL WOOD STRUCTURE.
IT IS THE MOST STABLE TIMBER TYPE AND IS CLASSIFIED ACCORDING TO ALL ITS CHARACTERISTICS IN THE CLASS OF REAL TEAK.
It is characterized by its beautiful, warm appearance and natural look.
KERO outdoor flooring is available in two colours:
Like any tropical wood, KERO bamboo will eventually get a grey patina if it is not oiled.
VERY SIMPLE KERO INSTALLATION
KERO substructure – moderately carbonized
Possible surfaces and KERO system
KERO screws and clamps
MAINTENANCE OF KERO BAMBOO
All exterior wood finishes made of natural materials age with years and become grey or dark. The time of this occurrence depends on the type and quality of the wood. Most natural outdoor surfaces get a coarser look. This can be slowed down with suitable oil. The oil preserves the original appearance of the wood and does not affect the wood resistance in any way. The use of protective coatings for KERO bamboo is not recommended as its unique density and thermal processing prevents the ingress of chemicals. KERO bamboo is protected against rot and decay, therefore additional protection is not necessary. KERO bamboo is cleaned with water and mild detergent. For high pressure cleaning, a distance of 30 cm should be maintained.
Crack on the surface and on the end of the boards can arise from the different drying characteristics of the surface and cross cut ends. This does not affect the stabillity or durability of the board.
The surface sides of the boards will get rougher over time and will form (small) splinters as a result of continuous water absorption and desorption due to dry and wet weather periods. Dimensional change or cupping of the boards can occur after installation. These phenomena are normal for most hardwood species and KERO Bamboo.
Use on the flat side
When using the flat side of the board as surface side please note that surface deformation (under influence of weather changes) will be significantly more visible compared to the ribbed side. Deformation of the surface is not considered to be a defect of the material.
